This is a video of an 8-month old baby who hears for the first time after his cochlear implant is activated and he hears his mother’s voice. I watched about a dozen or so of similar videos and the joy brought tears to my eyes.

It’s Pink Saturday again at Cottage Dreamer! Thanks to Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for hosting these listings. This week we had the option of doing a post that highlighted Autumn – a bit of a break from Pink – though the wall I photographed my collection against is pink. Gotta get it in there somehow.

All of these collectibles are by Jim Shore and purchased from QVC. They are each part of an auto-delivery program. I love these kind of collections because over the year you sometimes forget what exactly is in the set and then you get a big surprise when the next installment arrives. I love Jim Shore’s work and between his items and my Roman Seraphim Angels I’ve got quite a collection.

Jim Shore Pumpkin Autumn Diorama

This is the first autumn item. It’s a pumpkin diorama that shows two Early Americans rejoicing over their harvest bounty. It has two small lights inside – though I don’t have batteries in it now so I couldn’t illuminate it – but will hunt down some batteries later tonight.

Jim Shore Cornucopia

The next Autumn collectible is a Cornucopia that contains five additional pieces. As with all of Jim Shore’s items he uses vintage quilt patterns to adorn his carvings. I’ve started collecting his ornaments and am thinking of making some small quilt blocks based on the patterns in his designs.

Here’s a picture of the five items that fill up the Cornucopia, a pumpkin, an apple, a squash, an ear of corn, and I’m not sure if it’s an orange or another apple. But they are intricate. :-)

Jim Shore Autumn Angel

Lastly is my newest Jim Shore Collectible – the Autumn Angel. Can’t wait to get all of them, I’m thinking of putting a shelf in my living room to display all four. She is just beautiful and I’m sure the rest of the collection will be just as stunning.

Jim Shore Autumn Angel

Here’s a full-length photo of the Autumn Angel. She has a very detailed scene of a farm on her underskirt. Jim has started adding little “charms” to his figurines. Above the barn is a small black crow. In front of the barn is a wheelbarrow with some pumpkins in it and on the other side of the scene is an apple tree with a basket of apples charm. The detail on this items is just incredible.

Here’s the three items that I’ll be placing around my home.

Hope you are having a wonderful fall and looking forward to all the great holidays coming soon.

And, of course, have a Wonderful Pink Saturday!

If you’re a fabric fanatic like I am, I think you’ll get a kick out of the video I found while looking for “Quilt In A Day” videos on YouTube. I don’t have as big a stash as I used to – but that may change when I get a new shelving unit in my studio. Oh, and there is a closet that needs to be cleaned out of stuff that would be great for a fabric stash. One can never have too much fabric.

This week I thought I would share with you my favorite Pretty Pink Robe. I pulled it out of the closet for the first time this week because it was getting chilly but not bad enough to turn on the furnace. I just love this robe. It’s made from a plush material and when I’m wearing it I feel like I’m wrapped in a cloud and it keeps me very warm. I got it from QVC and it’s a Stan Herman robe. I have about six or so of his robes. Whenever he’s on I have to ration myself with how many robes I get a year. I think I might get this robe in another color just because I love it so much.

Here’s a picture of the robe hanging on my bedroom door. I don’t know what’s wrong with my camera but I couldn’t seem to get a decent photo today. I’ll have to have my son take a look at it this weekend.

Hope you are all having a wonderful fall. It’s been just beautiful here in the Midwest.

Happy Pink Saturday!

This week I’ve got three items to share from three different places I love to shop.

The first is a lovely pink vase that I got at Etsy when Etsy Cottage Style had their last Market Monday. It’s not very old and not from any company that I can tell, but it’s cute and pink and fits right in with my other “stuff” in my bedroom.

The middle item is a pincushion that I got on eBay and I believe it was from one of the gals who participates in Pink Saturday. I’ve not started using it yet – it’s kind of too pretty to start sticking pins it. I just have it sitting on the shelf above my sewing maching machine looking all pretty.

The last item is a small lamp that is battery operated. The shade is made of a wax and has a bulb inside that flickers. These flameless candles are so nice. It has an option where you can set it to go on at a certain time and then off six or so hours later. I purchased this through QVC.

Some online finds

Last week when I was visiting sites for Pink Saturday I came across two sites that I wanted to share with you this week.

The first site is Art Glehen which is the blog of Hélène Glehen and features her beautiful paitings of roses that are simply enchanting.

The other blog is Tina’s Enchanted Rose Studio. I took a quick see at her post for this Pink Saturday and she has some adorable tassles made from lots of beautiful ribbon and cherub figurines. She also has some pictures of pink roses. Can we ever get enough pink roses?

Have a wonderful Pink Saturday!

Today I’d like to share some photos of part of my handpainted porcelain collection. These are newer items compared to most that I have. I purchased them from someone on eBay who, sadly, I haven’t seen offering any similar items lately. I do suppose I have enough “stuff” now – but there always seems to be room for just one more thing on a side table or dresser. I guess that’s why we call them collections – we really never stop wanting to add more – do we?

This first item is a beautiful china painted heart trinket box. I keep it on my nightstand and it holds my rings, a necklace my son bought me, and my gold stud earrings.

Another box is the following egg-shaped one which has a very small vial inside for holding perfume.

Last of the items that I would consider appropriate for a dressing table – if I had one – is this perfume bottle. Maybe I’ll find room one of these days to put up a small dressing table so I can fill it with lots of “pretties.”

And finally, I have a really pretty mug that all, like all the rest, has been painted with beautiful pink tea roses.

Thank you for stopping by to see what I’ve got for Pink Saturday.

Have a wonderful weekend!
