It’s Saturday again and that means it’s time for Pink Saturday courtesy of Bev at How Sweet The Sound. We’re back to our regular Pink Saturday submissions.

While going through the “stuff” in my dayroom I “uncovered” one of the many items that I’ve purchased from Debi at Debi Coules. This week I’m showing a vintage pitcher that has been painted with the most beautiful pink posies.

Now for the update on my dayroom. Below are photos of a before and after of one section of the room. The cabinet that I cleaned off is where a new TV will go – once the whole room is cleaned up and organized. I’m taking the room section by section. The one thing that doesn’t show, that I need to do, is go through the drawers. There’s not a lot of “stuff” in the drawers – but I’m sure somethings I have been stuck in the drawers just because I don’t know where else to put them.

On top of the cabinet are only two things right now – my Bose Sound System and a wire tray where I put all my mail from the week and sort through on Friday – as you can see, it’s empty because I did all my paperwork sorting for the week. It’s a great system that has saved me a lot of time and headaches when I’ve misplaced a check or something. As I said before, this is where a TV will go.

And lastly, don’t forget to check out last weeks Pink Saturday submission for my Anniversary Giveaway. To get in on the drawing just make a comment to this or last week’s post. Good luck to everyone!

Have a Wonderful Pink Saturday!

This is the third Saturday that we have a theme for our Pink Saturday thanks to Bev at How Sweet The Sound. This week we are recalling a Holiday or Christmas tradition.

Each year for about the last fifteen years my son and I have gone out on Christmas Eve to see the decorations around town. We used to go out and guess at where to go. Now our local paper provides a list of homes that have great decorations and breaks it up into north and south sides of town. This makes things a lot easier. Plus, my son is a techno-geek so likes programming all the addresses into his GPS. We tune the car radio to one of the Chicago FM stations that plays Christmas songs and take off on our adventure – with Bootsy (Dave’s Chihuahua) cuddled in a blanket on my lap.

Here’s some pictures that show off our town:

Christmas lights in downtown district

Naperville’s downtown lights create a beautiful canopy.

A very big display of lights

We haven’t found another house that is decorated as extravagantly as any other in town. There are always a dozen or so cars parked around this giant display. We always get a laugh at the house next door. Their one decoration is a large arrow made up of white lights pointing toward this festival of lights.

Trolley stops in front of house while on their tour

This is one of several Trolley’s that give tours of Naperville. At Christmas they take folks around at night for an hour tour of the best decorated homes in town. Several times we’ve run across the Trolley on Christmas Eve and have found a few houses to add to our own tour.

Another wonderful house with a fantastic light displays. It’s always one of our “must sees.”

Now, in keeping with the Pink Saturday idea, I thought I’d show off a new tradition for my home – 4 foot trees. Rather than one big tree that I never seem to get set up – mostly because I don’t like bugging my son to do it and he does work hard. So, now that I’ve got one tree set up in my bedroom, I realized how much I like these smaller trees – even got three more this year at JoAnn’s for fantastic savings. But they will have to wait for next year to be put up – but oh what fun I’ll have through the year search for “treasures” for next years theme trees.

And lastly, there’s my ceramic nativity that I made about thirty years ago. Just one of my five nativity sets.

Thank you for sharing an old and a new tradition with me this year. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to everyone!

It’s Pink Saturday again at Cottage Dreamer! Thanks to Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for once more hosting this fun day of sharing all things Pink!

I just got this the other day and love it. It’s a glass ornament painted by Debi Coules. I love her work – as you’ve probably figured out if you’ve followed my blog for awhile. She does the most beautiful work. I’m going to get an ornament display stand to put this on. It needs to be set off by itself. Will probably put it on my dresser to go with the Pink Christmas theme in my bedroom.

Today I’m featuring the items I’ve got on the smaller sideboard in my dining room. This one sits between the entrance to the kitchen and one of the walls in my living room. I love the wallpaper even though it’s almost 25 years old. When I had the remodeling done on my condo it’s the one thing I wouldn’t part with. It was freshened up with crown moulding and some white paneling and a chair rail.

The handpainted items (tray, enamelware bowl, candleholders) were done by my friend Debi Coules – a very talent artist and you’ll see lots of her work in my home. I purchased the antique linen from eBay.

This weekend I went to one of my favorite antique stores. They moved from their location downtown to a wonderful place up on the north side. Their new shop is located in a previous furniture store and they have about five times as much space. So many more “pretties” to chose from.

When I saw this glass vase I just knew I couldn’t pass it up. I think it’s Fenton, but I’m not sure. I’ll keep doing some searching and see if I can find out. It really doesn’t matter, though, since I like it and it’s my perfect colors. I’ve got another vase packed away that I hope to come across soon and I’ll see how close the colors are. This round vase will be placed on the top of my curio cabinet with the vase I know is Fenton. As soon as I get the curio cabinet stuff out of the garage (was there while the condo was remodeled) I’ll take some pictures – lot of pictures.

It’s Pink Saturday again at Cottage Dreamer! Thanks to Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for once more hosting this fun day of sharing all things Pink!

I’m just getting the hang of my new digital camera – so I’m hoping to improve my pictures in coming weeks.

The first picture is a view of my kitchen table and the bay window behind it. The pinks on the window shelf are things I’ve featured before – the enamelware the I’ve purchased from Debi Coules. On the table is a wonderful tablecloth I purchased on eBay. I had never heard about tinting embroidery until I got this example and did some research. Had to go out and get some supplies to try this technique. The wreath has a bit of pink in it and I’m going to go to Home Goods today and buy something other than the green candle to put in the center. I had a great bunny in there for Easter but want something summery. If I get anything today I’ll add it to this post later in the day.

Here’s somethings from other areas in the kitchen.

And lastly, a pretty pink candle and a green one with a ceramic collar that has a pale pink bow on it.

Thank you for joining me on this great Pink Saturday. I’m off to take some pictures of the gorgeous blooming trees that are around my town and hope to have some good pictures for next week. Oh, and maybe I’ll even run across a few garage sales today – it’s finally getting to be somewhat warm enough for them to popping up like all the tulips around town.

This week I’m once again sharing something painted by Debi Coules with her gorgeous roses. I have stopped fighting my obsession and just given in to my love of beautiful boxes. One of these days my “day room” will be done and I’ll have a place to display them.

Here’s some pics of the wooden box:

I began collecting items painted by Debi Coules on eBay. She has now moved on to having her own website (banner lower down in the post.) I just love her roses and have lots of items spread out through my condo. I’m sure they will all eventually find their way to the blog.

The following pictures are of the bay window in my kitchen. My son took them because my digital camera has gone missing. It’s somewhere in the “day room” that is still a mess from the remodeling.

The bay has a shelf and right now has a combination of enamelware and two stained glass lamps. Somewhere I’ve got more plates that I’ll probably put on the shelf – but I tend to like the way it looks now. I do have a lace trimmed runner that’s in my “to iron” stack that will go back on the shelf.

Thanks to Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for hosting Pink Saturday. I’m thrilled to be able to participate this week.

Hope you enjoyed this look at my “Pink Pretties” from my kitchen.
